The SCREWBALL regatta is open to Fireball class dinghies exclusively. This regatta held over 2 days with multiple races, is raced on typical courses to the Fireball class.
The SCREWBALL is held in memory of the late Peter Kelly which was a great contributor to the development of young athletes and a great inspiration to the PCYC members.
The late Peter Kelly was more than an avid Fireball racer. He believed that not many sports can match what sailing can contribute to the development of young athletes. His numerous commitments to junior sailing programs matched with the right environment have allowed some of our athletes to compete at the highest levels. In recognition of Peter Kelly’s dedication and instrumental efforts to promote and sustain junior sailing, the Screwball Regatta will now be the Peter Kelly Fireball Screwball Memorial Regatta.
