Spring Cup

The Spring Cup is PCYC's season-opening racing event and open to all clubs and all level of boaters. You don’t need to be an experienced racer to take part in this event. It will be casual with an emphasis on fun and participation, not results.

Boats having a SLVYRA rating are welcome. But if you don't have one, the Race Committee will assign you a provisional handicap.

Boats can race under spinnaker or white sail on a course that will consist of random SLVYRA marks, to be selected by the Race Committee prior to the start because the course will depend on the wind for the day. The Notice of Race will show the approximate location of these marks and their exact coordinates can be found here.

The Race Committee will allow a 30-minute starting window after the start signal. Boats can cross the start line at their leisure anytime during the 30 minutes, although we encourage newcomers, less experienced boaters and slower boats to start early followed by the faster boats starting later in the window. Your start time will be recorded only start once you've crossed the start line. This format should offer a less congested, non-intimidating start line for those with little experience.
