{"id":1164,"date":"2022-03-06T15:21:39","date_gmt":"2022-03-06T19:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pcyc.qc.ca\/?page_id=1164"},"modified":"2025-01-24T12:22:52","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T16:22:52","slug":"race-committee-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.pcyc.qc.ca\/en\/race-committee-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Race Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why be part of the race committee?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many reasons why one may decide to be part of the race committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 to be part of those who work to improve racing;<br>\u2022 to broaden my horizons in the world of yacht racing;<br>\u2022 for the purpose of learning more about the sport of sailing;<br>\u2022 share my skills and talents with others;<br>\u2022 to get to know my new sailing club better;<br>\u2022 to be part of an awesome team!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Race Management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The club is always looking for volunteers to assist in the running of races and regattas. Race Committee roles include;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Signal Boat Driver,&nbsp;<\/li><li>Race Officer i.e. the person in charge for running the race<\/li><li>Visual Signaler; prepares, raises and lowers signal flags<\/li><li>Sounder<\/li><li>Recorder<\/li><li>Timekeeper<\/li><li>Line Spotter<\/li><li>Mark Boat Operator and more.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically each race committee volunteer will manage more than one of these roles.
