Big boats, small boats, juniors racing\u2026.you name it. All classes and events need qualified, talented volunteers to support their racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When everything on the racecourse is running smoothly, it\u2019s important to remember that it\u2019s because good decisions were made by the race officials, leading to a fair and well-managed race. There are many variables that need to be addressed before the starting sequence commences. While perfection is the goal, it\u2019s incredibly difficult to achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why be part of the race committee?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many reasons why one may decide to be part of the race committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 to be part of those who work to improve racing;<br>\u2022 to broaden my horizons in the world of yacht racing;<br>\u2022 for the purpose of learning more about the sport of sailing;<br>\u2022 share my skills and talents with others;<br>\u2022 to get to know my new sailing club better;<br>\u2022 to be part of an awesome team!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Race Management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The club is always looking for volunteers to assist in the running of races and regattas. Race Committee roles include;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Signal Boat Driver,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Race Officer i.e. the person in charge for running the race<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visual Signaler; prepares, raises and lowers signal flags<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sounder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recorder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Timekeeper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Line Spotter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mark Boat Operator and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically each race committee volunteer will manage more than one of these roles.
